September 16th, 2008

this is not the first time Casio has done something crazy with a Hi speed camera. the last one shot at upto 60FPS! this new one, the EX-FH20, however, shoots at 40FPS at 7.1MP (mind you, only for up to 40 frames…) and can record movies at 1000FPS!!! thats just mad. its not that expencive either: £399, which for this kind of FPS aint bad! just wondering how log after shooting 40 frames in 1 second do you have to wait before you can start again. Also, of interest, is the fact it shoots DNG images too. nice touch.

Jim Chuchu has a post on his blog showing you how he built a LightBox out of a couple of Carboard boxes, some tinfoil, cables, bulbs and bulb holders. Looks very cool, and should not cost that much to build or run (he used Energy saving bulbs).

Independence of the seas

May 5th, 2008

I was in Cork over the weekend, and while there i got some shots of the Independence of the Seas. The shoot is available here and Robert Sweetnam has a few more here. an example shot, and just to give an idea of size, check out the buses sitting beside the ship here:

The ship is 339m long, cost $590 million to build and has capacity for 4370 passangers and 1360 crew. This is one hell of a ship. it is one of the largest cruise ships and passenger vessels ever built (at the time of construction).

Photography Links for April 22nd 2008

April 22nd, 2008

so, this is the first in a many part series, but dont ask how often they will be posed, as i have no idea. The idea of this post is a collection of links i have found on the interwebs which do not in themselves deserve a full post, but should be posted for reference.

The Digital Story has a reference card for after every shoot. the idea is quite simple. do these tasks once you finsh a shoot.

Anandtech has an article explaing how Digital Sensors work. interesting read and useful for any photographer.

I have posted some photos of my camera bag contents. Sounds a bit odd, but concidering it has a total of 3 cameras (Canon 350D, Canon 3000N (film) and a Kodak EasyShare camera, which i used to take the photos) and lenses, and other stuff, i though i would post it. I will do a write up on this soon, explaing all the stuff in here.

Photocritic has a post with info about the top 15 entry level DSLRs. Pricing ranges from $450 to $1800…
